Artists’ Statement related to submitted work for 2007 members exhibition at The Center for Book Arts, NY.

Black Shadow Box

Black shadow, shadow box, and black box:
This black box, un-contained from its original vessel, is filled with memories.
Lit by consciousness, memories of projected emotions emerge as shadows.
Traumatic events collect in the subconscious, negative darkness sometimes prevails, but here the negative space is white light and life prevails.
The classic primary colors tint these black shadows while interacting with the renegade color first seen on earth: the primordial green of cyanobacteria.
